ELTA signs MoU with AIFC and appoints Zhali Ualiyev as Ambassador for the cooperation in the development of Legal Tech in Kazakhstan

The European Legal Technology Association has entered the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Astana International Financial Centre Authority.

The MoU was signed by Mr Nurzhan Kosbayev, the Deputy CEO of the AIFC Authority and Mr Holger Zscheyge, the President of ELTА.

The cooperation between parties shall foster the development of LegalTech between Europe and AIFC for facilitating access to LegalTech for the wider community. For increasing the interaction between LegalTech communities of Kazakhstan and Europe, ELTA appointed ELTA Ambassador to Kazakhstan, who shall serve as a focal point between communities.

Mr Nurzhan Kosbayev: “…the synergy between legal communities of Kazakhstan and Europe gradually improving, the cooperation between AIFC and ELTA shall give a new impetus to strengthen our relationships….”

Mr Holger Zscheyge: “Extending cooperation and communication among local legaltech communities beyond Europe is one of the goals of ELTA. It is a great pleasure and honour for us that we now have a direct communication line to the AIFC, Kazakhstan and the Central Asian region and legaltech community.”

At the same time, Zhali Ualiyev, Secretary of the Astana International Financial Centre Advisory Council on the Development of LegalTech and Senior Associate of the Legal Development Department of AIFC Authority, was appointed as Ambassador for Kazakhstan and thus acts as a link between the two organisations and shares knowledge about the Kazakh market with his expertise.

Astana International Financial Centre was established on the initiative of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev as part of the National Plan “100 steps to implement five institutional reforms”. On July 2, 2020, as part of the meeting of the AIFC Management Council, the Centre’s Development Strategy was adopted until 2025. According to it, the vision of the AIFC is to become a leading international financial centre in the region, including Central Asia, the Caucasus, the EAEU countries, Western China, Mongolia and Eastern Europe.
